How much does it cost to create an EE profile?

You can create an EE profile for FREE. You will be asked to pay the fees only when you are invited to apply by the Government of Canada to immigrate to Canada. It is then your choice to either pay the fees or decline to pay.

What should I do before entering the EE Pool for Canada Immigration?

Before you create an EE profile you need to have 2 things in hand:

FIRST, if you have completed your education outside of Canada get an educational credential assessment (ECA) for an "evaluation for immigration purpose" from a "designated organization" that is approved by the Government of Canada. For more information, please read ECA for Express Entry.

SECOND, give an IELTS (General Training) or a CELPIP (General Test) exam for English. For more information, please read the "Language tests we accept" section on the Government of Canada website.

NOTE 1: If you submit your EE profile without the above 2 details in hand, you will get a letter in your EE online account right away from the Government of Canada stating, "you are NOT eligible for Express Entry at this time." So, please do NOT submit your EE profile without completing the above 2 requirements.

NOTE 2: Even though creating an EE profile is free of cost. Giving an IELTS/CELPIP exam for English and getting your ECA is NOT free (these may cost approx. Rs. 30,000/- INR as of year 2020).

NOTE 3: Not every Masters degree is equivalent to a Canadian Masters. For example, for my educational credentials, WES evaluated my Indian MA degree as equivalent to a 1 year Post Graduate Diploma in Canada. For this reason it is necessary to complete an ECA to know the Canadian equivalency for your degree to get a proper CRS eligibility score for the EE.
